KEY COMPONENTS OF THE LIGHTBRIDGE SYSTEM

Light bridge Splice

The Light bridge splice consists of the following components:

The outer body structure protects the splice and houses the fiber clamp, jacket buffers and spring.

The fiber clamp raises to accept the fibers into the v-groove and lowers to hold the fibers securely in place.

The 60 0 degree v-groove accurately aligns the fibers, to ensure a high quality splice.

The two jacket buffers guide the fibers into the v-groove.

The spring applies pressure to the fiber clamp in order to hold the fibers securely in the v-groove.

The spring, jacket buffers and v-groove provide accurate fiber alignment and maximum clamping force, while minimizing induced stress on the fibers
